How asset division can affect a 401(k) account

For Pennsylvania couples planning to dissolve their marriage, preparing for how certain retirement accounts may be divided during the asset-division process of the divorce can be helpful. Many accounts may fall into the classification of marital property, thus subjecting their contents to equitable distribution.

Domestic partnership termination

Pennsylvania residents who are thinking of ending their domestic partnership may wish to know what steps they must take to do this. The complexity of the termination depends on the longevity of the relationship, property acquired during the partnership and whether there are children. Many times, the requirements to terminate the partnership are listed in the paperwork filed when the arrangement was established.

Determining the best interests of a child in court

Pennsylvania residents may not be aware of the Child Welfare Information Gateway, a governmental resource dealing with child welfare. The agency offers several suggestions for measures by which the best interests of a child may be determined when there is a divorce or a child removal order by Child Protective Services.

Houses and property division in divorce cases
