Tough decisions: working together after divorce

Many people in Berks County expect that they will see their ex-spouses far less after a divorce. Even for divorced parents, the amount of time spent with the child's other parent is relatively minimal. And that makes sense: why would two people who tried and failed to make a marriage work want to spend time together. But for ex-couples that own and operate a business together, a divorce will not necessarily mean the end of a relationship.

Custody issues can interfere with healthcare for the children

Many Pennsylvania parents willingly put aside their differences when it comes to their children's health. For some, however, it is nearly impossible to get past the couple's issues in order to focus on the children. It is in this situation that custody issues can seep into the pediatrician's office.

Another Hollywood marriage ends

Many people in Berks County are aware that Hollywood marriages don't often last. Even some of the longest-lasting marriages, like that of David Cassidy and his wife run the risk of ending in divorce. In fact, after 23 years of marriage and 5 more years of dating, the Cassidys have filed for divorce. How the former "The Partridge Family" teen heartthrob is taking the split remains to be seen, but his soon-to-be ex-wife has said that she is happy Cassidy is getting help for his alcohol addiction.

Pre- and postnuptial agreements: protect your financial security

While many of us in Wyomissing think of prenuptial or postnuptial agreements as being something reserved exclusively for the rich, they are important family law tools that anyone can use. These agreements help to provide financial security for spouses in the event of a divorce, a time when most people are worried about what they will have left following the separation. Of course, there is a reason why so many people associate these agreements with the rich -- they have been using them for a long time to protect the assets they had prior to marriage.
