Rapper Flo Rida involved in child support case

Pennsylvania fans of the rapper Flo Rida might have heard that he is engaged in a dispute over child custody. A woman who says she and Flo Rida were together from December 2015 to January 2016 gave birth to a son in September 2016. A paternity test shows that there is a 99.99 percent chance that the rapper is the father. However, the mother says that he has never acknowledged his son, and thus she included the paternity test in court filings.

Requesting back child support

When parents in Pennsylvania separate before they divorce, there may be a period of time during which there is no set child-support agreement. While many separated noncustodial parents contribute financially to the support of their children, there are situations in which this does not happen. As a result, the parent with primary physical custody may ask the court to order retroactive financial contributions, also known as "back child support".

Child support obligations for those with disabilities

If Pennsylvania parents who owe child support becomes disabled, they are still required to fulfill their obligations. However, it is likely that the amount of support that they provide will be less than it was in the past. In the event of a temporary disability, a court may grant a temporary modification to an existing child support order.
