Blake Griffin in custody and support dispute with ex-fiancee

| Jan 4, 2018 | Child Custody |

Pennsylvania fans of Kendall Jenner or basketball player Blake Griffin might be following the relationship between the two. Griffin has two children by his ex-fiancee, Brynn Cameron, and the two split up in July.

Griffin has filed paperwork to legally establish his paternity of the children. This is necessary to create a court-ordered child support and custody agreement if the parents are unmarried. Reportedly, Cameron also filed paperwork asking for joint custody and child support. Griffin signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers worth $173 million, so support payments may be ordered based on that amount. Reports speculate that Griffin will dispute the amount asked for in support.

Despite the break-up in the summer, Cameron remained in the home shared by the two until Griffin’s relationship with Jenner became public knowledge. Cameron allegedly takes the position that Griffin departed for a more glamorous relationship.

In disputes over child custody and child support, it is helpful if parents can put aside their differences and make choices that are in the best interests of the children. The parents may need to cooperate for many years as co-parents. However, in some cases, this is not possible. Some parents may be determined to use the children to create problems for the other parent. A legal agreement regarding custody and support can be important because it gives protection if one parent does not pay support, does not obey the custody agreement or escalates to the point where one parent fears an international abduction or another incident that could threaten the safety and well-being of the child. Parents may want to discuss these concerns with an attorney.
